  • Marriage Preparation

Congratulations on your engagement! Visitation Catholic Church is happy to assist you in preparation for marriage and the wedding ceremony.

To begin the process of scheduling a wedding at Visitation, please note the following requirements:

    • Either the bride or groom (not a family member) must contact the parish office directly at least six months in advance of the proposed date.
    • At least one party to the marriage must be baptized/recieved into the Catholic Church, and both parties must otherwise eligible to be married in the Catholic Church*.
    • Either the bride or groom or a family member of the bride or groom must be a parishioner; or, either the bride or groom must be a Visitation Catholic School alumnus/alumna.

Please call the parish office at 630-834-6700 for more information and to begin the process. Father Alberts is the priest responsible for marriage preparation at Visitation and he will be in touch soon after calling.

*If either the bride or groom (or both) have been previously married, whether in Church or not, a Declaration of Nullity must be obtained from the Diocese before a wedding can be scheduled. The parish priests are very happy to assist in that process. For this, you may desire to contact Father Alberts directly at fralberts@visitationcc.org.

  • Natural Family Planning

Natural Family Planning (NFP) is the general title for the scientific, natural and moral methods of family planning that can help married couples either achieve or postpone pregnancies.

NFP methods are based on the observation of the naturally occurring signs and symptoms of the fertile and infertile phases of a woman's menstrual cycle. No drugs, devices, or surgical procedures are used to avoid pregnancy.

Since the methods of NFP respect the love-giving (unitive) and life-giving (procreative) nature of the conjugal act, they support God's design for married love!

Interested in learing about Natural Family Planning?  Contact Cathy Mullen via email at cathyjomullen@aol.com or call her at (773) 428-4592 to schedule an informational session.

  • engaged encounter

This retreat is a weekend away, with other engaged couples, which allows plenty of private time to plan your MARRIAGE, not your wedding day.  It is designed to give you the opportunity to talk honestly and intensively for 32 hours about your prospective life together—your strengths and weaknesses, desires, ambitions, goals, attitudes about money, sex, children, family, your role in the Church and in society—in an environment free from the pressures and distractions of the outside world.  View this testimonial video to see what couples are saying.Click here for information about Catholic Engaged Encounter weekends.
